What job-board alerts do

Job-board alerts, such as the ones on LinkedIn, Naukri and Indeed, are useful and free. You choose keywords, a location and sometimes a seniority level, and the board emails you new roles that match those filters. They cover a very large number of employers across every industry.

The limits are the ones filters always have. A keyword match does not tell you whether the role really suits your skills, and the same filter gives everyone with it the same list. You still have to open each role and read it to decide.

Using both

They are not exclusive. If you already use alerts, keep them. Chayan is meant to cut the time you spend deciding which roles deserve an application, so you open fewer tabs and spend that time on the roles that fit.
